  • We know that frizzy hair is slow to grow. Some find that their hairstyle lacks a touch of femininity. Others just want a change of mind during a reception. But while waiting for your hair to grow at its normal rate, extensions can be a good alternative.

The difference between weaving and extensions

Technically, weaving and extensions are both methods of adding hair. Therefore, it's no wonder that many people confuse them. For greater clarity, we will say that weaving consists of braiding the hair in order to allow the gluing or sewing of strands on it. This first method also gives a natural effect because the glue or the seam is done flush with the hair and not on the lengths. Extensions, our curlyme hair, on the other hand, are more comfortable because they allow the hair to be exposed to the open air. But the glue is applied on the lengths, like a joint. In other words, the technique of extensions consists only of adding length. In other words, strands are added to your natural hair in order to lengthen it or add thickness.

The different techniques for installing extensions

To apply the extensions, you have the choice between 4 main techniques. In order of simplicity, the first is to secure the extensions with clips or kinds of barrettes with your natural hair. The downside to this method is that your natural hair will tangle, especially if you've chosen synthetic extensions. In this case, disentangling them is an obstacle course and you will have to take your courage in both hands. However, this is ideal if you want to add a bit of fantasy to your hairstyle at an event, for example.

The second technique is fixing by braiding. As the name suggests, the extensions are braided with your own hair. On the other hand, despite the fact that it is popular with young women for its practicality and affordability, this technique should be used sparingly. Indeed, it risks causing serious hair loss, even alopecia if used too frequently or for too long.

The third method is similar to the previous one, and that is weaving fixation. This method is not the most recommended for healthy extensions. The braids not only risk compressing the scalp and interfere with its irrigation, but it also makes the hair dry and weakened due to lack of care. These first three techniques are called cold fixations.

The last fixation is that by synthetic keratin or vegetable glue. This is the most innovative technique but remains the most recommended for applying extensions. The reason is that keratin is naturally present in the hair. It is a very strong fibrous protein which gives it strength to the hair. So what could be more natural than using it like glue to join hair with extensions. These are known as hot extensions due to the need for heated tweezers to make the bonds. Applied strand by strand, the extensions are practically invisible. To avoid the risk of allergy or even infection, it is best to keep the glue points a little away from the scalp.

    Our practical advice

With human hair extensions from reliable wholesale hair vendors, natural hair can breathe, left out. They can benefit from good hygiene because they are completely washable. In addition, it is possible to provide them with care to feed them. Which is also highly recommended to keep them healthy. With extensions, the risk of falling considerably decreases. Unlike weaving which still has drawbacks that should not be overlooked, especially if the braids are too tight. In this case, it even happens that with a pose that has lasted too long, the hair loss becomes irreversible. Choose a good quality of extensions and choose them to flatter your skin tone and not the other way around. And above all, call on the service of a professional.
