Before diving into the tuning itself, the storage location of the device is directly relevant and equally important. Where do you store your equipment during the off season/summer? If the answer is your basement or garage, that means more work needs to be done to get them ready for the season. These non-climate-controlled spaces are less friendly to metal edges. Over the course of a few months, rust will start to show up, destroying the sharp edges you struggled to keep in the thin spring conditions.

There are two ways to prevent this. All I do is put the skis under my bed. The spaces where you're likely to spend the most time are often the most climate-controlled, whether it's air conditioning or opening windows. If under the bed is not an option, a layer of storage wax is required. Waxing is discussed below, but, except for scraping and brushing, follow the same process with storage wax. A coat of wax on the bottom and edges will protect them from humidity and other climatic conditions.

Storage during the season is also an important consideration. It is imperative not to leave the device in the roof box or overnight in the cold. While the device is largely waterproof, moisture can get in during activities. If left outside, water can freeze on the inside of the ski/core or under the base and cause a whole host of problems.
