The PS4 was first released in 2013 it was released in 2013. The PS4 has since be not just one of Sony's most successful consoles, but it's also one of its top-selling video game platforms of all time. Despite this, Sony is now looking to sell the PS5 as its primary equipment, which means the PS4 will eventually come to its end. In the wake of new instructions from Sony that we've got some idea when PS4 may officially be going out of service.

In Sony's most recent financial statement, it specified that games on PS4 will disappear in 2025. This doesn't mean that legacy PS4 games won't be available for purchase, however Sony intends to stop releasing new games for PS4 by this point.

Instead, in 2025 Sony has estimated that by 2025, most of its revenues associated with games will stem via PlayStation 5, with titles played on PC and mobile also bringing in the remaining half of its profits.

All in all, this surely shouldn't come as a surprise considering that the PS5 is expected to be Sony's primary area of focus for the time to be. It's important to remember that at this very moment PS4 PS4 is a console that Sony is manufacturing and releasing games on.
