  • CLEVELAND - Joey Lucchesi Jersey While they had one hiccup over the last four days, the Indians did what they should have done otherwise, taking care of busine s against a very bad Oakland A's team that from a defensive standpoint is flat out tough to watch. Thursday in the return to the mound for Indians ace Corey Kluber, the A's again were their own worst enemy, committing three more errors in the runaway 8-0 Tribe win. Kluber was very good in his comeback to the mound, going six innings which was the plan, not allowing a run on just a pair of hits. The Tribe will head on the road for a short five-game road trip before they come back to Progre sive Field to host the White Sox and Dodgers in a homestand that will kickoff next Friday. Here's three takeaways from today's big win for the Tribe to move to 28-24 thus far in 2017.1. KluBot Back with a Vengeance Corey Kluber didn't look like he mi sed Jose Pirela Jersey a beat during his month away from pitching, as against an Oakland team that is as free swinging as they come, he struck out 10 in six innings of work. He allowed just two hits, no runs, and walked just one in throwing 77 pitches. Not bad for a guy who had not pitched for a few weeks. Kluber did escape one threat in the 3rd inning, but with runners on first and third with two outs he struck out Mark Canha to end the only time Oakland did much against him. The time away looked like it did Kluber good, as he lowered his ERA from 5.06 to 4.36, and it appeared Jake Cronenworth Jersey he did it with relative ease. Kluber had 24 swinging strikes of his 51 total on Thursday in the victory. The Indians pitcher won't pitch in Colorado which is wise so he doesn't have to bat, but his 26th lifetime double digit strikeout offering was a great return to the mound for the Tribe hurler.Scroll to Continue2. A Much Needed Four-Game Feast We've discu sed more than once that the Oakland A's are a team going nowhere fast, but it was nice to see the Indians do what they should against a bad team, that is win three of four. Sure it would have been nice to get the sweep, but it's understandable and tough to get a four-game sweep over any team, even one like the A's. The Tribe in the four games scored a total of 23 runs in the four games on 32 hits, holding the A's to 10 runs. Oakland also struck out a whopping 56 times in the four games. Oakland's defense is another topic all together, as they can simply be described in one word - awful. They are far and away the worst in baseball with 54 errors in 53 games, with three more coming on Thursday. The one that best describes how bad the A's are came when Mark Canha pulled the little league Johnny Manziel Jersey move, running right past the ball on a Michael Brantley single. To say they are the 'Bad News Bears' of baseball is an understatement.3. Salazar Out of the Pen Danny Salazar finally got into a game out of the pen, and for the most part was effective despite allowing a hit as he preserved the shoutout with a scorele s 9th inning. Indians manager Terry Francona said that Salazar was aggre sive, and getting him into a game in that situation was about as perfect as Nick Martini Jersey it comes, as the game is basically out of reach and Salazar can just reach back and pitch. Don't look for Salazar to be in the pen too long, as there's no doubt that Francona wants this to be a situation where he can get right and then get back to being a starter again. Expect the Indians to keep him in situations where he can be succe sful, and hopefully regain his confidence and then make a solid return to the rotation.
