I have not played RuneScape for 10 or so years. However, my account and skills that I spent years building are all on RS3 and if I were to visit OSRS I'd have to begin anew. From what I hear RS3 includes a whole lot more information and is simpler and faster to level up nonetheless RS07 Gold is what I know and recognise, should I try out the new RS3 and attempt get accustomed to the new mechanisms or just stick with OSRS? Would love to hear from both sides (will also be posting this in the OSRS subreddit).
I can't live without the QoL developments to 12, these days. Particularly lodestones, the toolbelt, and hotbar. The way I see it, not needing the options in OSRS does not make RuneScape more difficult, only longer times performing less assortment of activities. But if you are a fan of PVP, then OSRS is the place. You might even use the Runelite client for OSRS that does something RS3 doesn't, like an XP tracker you do not need to pay for. But in the end, RS3 is the fun game if you ask me.
Will I be at a disadvantage utilizing heritage mode versus someone who is utilizing EoC? Or bossing? However, you can just set up your hotbar and revolution will activate whatever is the initial ability not on cooldown, which means you won't have to be worried about it until endgame, where you might want to learn more active approaches. Here's a fairly solid setup assuming you have the levels for them.
Legacy is unquestionably gets weaker the later it gets, but you can ease into EoC through revolution by placing action bars up which automatically throw skills while performing Slayer, so you basically just click an enemy like in legacy, also can learn abilities through that. EoC has got AoE abilities, therefore Slayer is considerably faster. For bossing, most of them have mechanisms that are not really legacy manner friendly, so you require damage and do DPS, but it is still achievable if you wish to.
If EOC was the issue for you, you may use an pub from the wiki and forget about it being put buy RS 3 gold, or you can just change to heritage combat mode. Because I play with I feel like I'm making progress, I prefer RS3. Whether it be levels, or farming animals, or construction on Anachronia, or finishing quests, there lots of approaches. The grind can be actual although with OSRS I feel a whole lot more nostalgia playing.
