A snafu with one of FIFA 23's Hero Packs has FIFA 23 Coins resulted in some serious costs following the fact that an exchangeable FIFA Ultimate Team Hero item was put on the virtual marketplace for transfers in FIFA for very low prices. Unrest ensued as players sought to sell their belongings as their value plummeted, seeking to make up for losses as the market was overwhelmed.
FUT Hero items are scarce and therefore valuable. They each represent the player who has made an outstanding contribution to their team or is a fan favourite for a reason or other. A Hero item is available for million of FUT coins each on the virtual transfer market or can be acquired by purchasing packs, where there is a slim chance of receiving one.
Then, when EA accidentally released a pack that contained a tradeable Hero item at a low price of 250,000 FUT coins, the market was struck by an inflow of cheap Heroes and caused the price to fall, and erase the value claimed by the most valuable items. Collectors of rare Heroes began selling them in the wake of prices plummeting that put gasoline on the fire. It's understandable due to the fact that rare Hero items can fetch hundreds of dollars when sold on third-party platforms.
The mistake has been fixed and the pack was made being available for around 25 minutes however, the damage has been done. EA has yet to comment about the situation. although the market is beginning to recover, the damage appears to be irreversible, and it remains to be seen what EA can take to rectify the situation.
